Ingredients

Main
  • 1.5 ounces 45 milliliters vodka
  • 3 ounces 90 milliliters grape juice
  • 4 ounces 120 milliliters ginger ale
  • Approximately 1 cup of cubed ice
  • 1 slice lime wheel or lemon wheel optional garnish
  • 1 small sprig fresh mint optional garnish

Equipment

  • Highball glass or tall drinking glass
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Ice

Method

  1. Fill your highball glass three-quarters full with cubed ice (about 1 cup).
  2. Measure 1.5 ounces (45 milliliters) vodka using a jigger and pour it over the ice.
  3. Pour 3 ounces (90 milliliters) grape juice into the glass slowly to mix gently with the vodka.
  4. Top the mixture with 4 ounces (120 milliliters) of chilled ginger ale, filling the glass almost to the rim.
  5. Use a bar spoon or long spoon to stir gently for 5 to 10 seconds, moving from bottom to top to blend flavors and preserve carbonation.
  6. Garnish with a slice of lime or lemon on the rim and add a fresh mint sprig if desired.
  7. Taste the drink and adjust sweetness or spice by adding more ginger ale or grape juice to suit your preference.

Notes

Always use chilled ingredients and add ginger ale last to preserve carbonation.
