  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 0.5 ounces cinnamon syrup
  • 0.5 ounces Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar rim mixed cinnamon and sugar
  • 1 fresh lime wheel for garnish
  • 2 to 3 fresh cranberries for garnish (optional)
  • 2 pieces cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Coupe glass or margarita glass
  • Citrus juicer or reamer
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Small shallow dish for rim ingredients

Method
 

  1. Combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 2 cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract, then let the syrup cool to room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.
  3. Rub the rim of a coupe or margarita glass with a fresh lime wedge, then dip into 2 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar to coat evenly.
  4. Measure 2 ounces silver tequila and 0.5 ounces Cointreau into the shaker.
  5. Add 1 ounce fresh lime juice and 0.5 ounces fresh orange juice to the shaker.
  6. Pour in 0.5 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice and 0.5 ounces cooled cinnamon syrup, then stir gently.
  7. Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the shaker, seal, and shake vigorously for 15 seconds until frosty.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass, leaving ice chips behind.
  9. Garnish with a fresh lime wheel on the rim and float 2 to 3 fresh cranberries on top, then serve immediately.

Notes

Cinnamon syrup can be made up to two weeks in advance and stored refrigerated. Serve immediately over fresh ice. Batch mix up to four hours before serving and shake with ice before pouring.
