Method
- Place your rocks glass or coupe in the freezer for at least two minutes to chill.
- Cut your fresh limes in half and juice them into a small bowl or directly into your jigger. Aim for 0.75 ounces of juice, which typically comes from one medium lime.
- Pour 2 ounces of silver tequila into your jigger.
- Measure 0.5 ounces of simple syrup into your jigger.
- Fill your cocktail shaker about three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Pour the tequila, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup into your ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously for about 10 to 12 seconds.
- Using your cocktail strainer, pour the drink into your pre-chilled glass filled with fresh ice.
- Place a lime wheel on the rim or drop a lime twist into the drink for garnish. Serve immediately.
Notes
Always squeeze your limes fresh right before mixing; lime juice loses its bright character within an hour or two of being squeezed. Use a quality silver tequila without additives for the best flavor. Shake your drink with conviction for the full 10 to 12 seconds to properly chill and integrate the ingredients.
