Ingredients

Main
  • 2 ounces silver tequila blanco
  • 4 to 5 ounces ginger beer
  • 0.5 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 lime wheel or wedge for garnish
  • 1 thin slice fresh ginger for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Copper mug or highball glass
  • Jigger for measuring
  • Bar spoon or long mixing spoon
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Ice scoop or small spoon

Method

  1. Place a copper mug or highball glass in the freezer and chill for at least 2 minutes.
  2. Remove the glass and fill it completely with ice.
  3. Using a jigger, measure and pour 2 ounces of silver tequila into the ice-filled glass.
  4. Cut a fresh lime in half and juice it using a citrus juicer to yield approximately 0.5 ounce of lime juice.
  5. Pour the fresh lime juice over the tequila and ice.
  6. Top the glass with 4 to 5 ounces of cold ginger beer, pouring slowly to maintain carbonation.
  7. Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 10 seconds to combine ingredients without losing carbonation.
  8. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a thin slice of fresh ginger, then serve immediately.

Notes

Always use fresh lime juice and quality ginger beer for best flavor.
