  • 1 cup taro root peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup tapioca pearls
  • 2 cups water for cooking taro
  • 1 cup milk or milk alternative
  • 1/2 cup sugar adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes

  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Strainer
  • Large glasses or cups for serving
  • Straws for bubble tea

Method
 

  1. Start by boiling the diced taro root in a medium saucepan with two cups of water until soft.
  2. In another pot, bring water to a boil and add tapioca pearls. Stir gently and cook according to package instructions until translucent and chewy.
  3. Once the taro is soft, drain it and transfer to a blender. Add milk, sugar, and vanilla extract, then blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste the taro mixture and adjust sweetness as needed by adding more sugar.
  5. In each glass, add a generous amount of cooked tapioca pearls at the bottom. Pour the taro mixture over the pearls, filling the glass.
  6. Add ice cubes to each glass to chill the drink.
  7. Stir gently to mix the pearls with the taro. Insert a straw and enjoy.

Notes

Feel free to customize your taro bubble tea with different flavors or toppings. Let the tapioca pearls cool in syrup to keep them sweet and prevent hardening.
