Ingredients

Main
  • 4 carrots peeled and chopped
  • 2 apples cored and chopped
  • 1 lemon peeled
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled
  • 1 cucumber chopped
  • Handful of fresh spinach or kale optional but recommended
  • Small piece of turmeric root or 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric optional
  • Pinch of black pepper

Equipment

  • Cold press juicer or centrifugal juicer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large glass pitcher or serving glasses
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water and pat dry.
  2. Peel and chop the carrots into chunks small enough to fit through your juicer’s chute.
  3. Core and chop the apples into quarters, removing seeds and discarding them.
  4. Peel the lemon and ginger, then chop the ginger into small pieces.
  5. Chop the cucumber into smaller pieces and roughly chop the spinach or kale if using.
  6. Turn on your juicer and feed the carrots and cucumber first, followed by the apples, ginger, and turmeric (if using).
  7. Add the leafy greens last, alternating with firmer produce to maximize juice extraction.
  8. Pour the juice into a large glass pitcher, add the lemon juice and a pinch of black pepper, and stir well.
  9. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer if a smoother texture is desired.
  10. Serve immediately over ice or at room temperature for best flavor and nutrient retention.
