Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 5-6 lemons
  • 1 cup frozen acai berries
  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries hulled
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave nectar
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Large pitcher
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer or reamer
  • Fine-mesh strainer (optional)
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Glasses for serving

Method

  1. Juice the lemons: cut 5-6 lemons and extract 1 cup fresh lemon juice using a citrus juicer.
  2. Place frozen acai berries and hulled fresh strawberries into the blender.
  3. Add 3 cups cold water and 1/4 cup honey or agave nectar to the blender.
  4. Add a pinch of sea salt and the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the blender.
  5. Blend on high speed for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth and no berry chunks remain.
  6. Optionally, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into the pitcher, pressing with a spoon for a silkier texture.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more honey or lemon juice, or thin with additional water if too concentrated.
  8. Fill glasses with ice, pour the lemonade over, and stir before serving.

Notes

Optional straining removes pulp for a smoother texture. Stores in the refrigerator for up to three days in an airtight container.
