Method
- Fill a highball or rocks glass with fresh ice cubes and set aside to chill.
- Squeeze 3 ounces of fresh grapefruit juice and 1 ounce of fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker.
- Slice 1 to 2 rounds of fresh jalapeño, remove seeds if desired, and add to the shaker.
- Gently muddle the jalapeño slices in the shaker for 5 to 10 seconds to release oils and spice.
- Add 2 ounces of blanco tequila and 0.5 ounce of simple syrup to the shaker.
- Fill the shaker with ice, seal, and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the exterior is frosted.
- Strain the mixture through a fine strainer into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and, if desired, rim the glass with sea salt or Tajín before serving.
Notes
Serve immediately for best flavor and adjust jalapeño slices to taste for desired spice level.
