Method
- Chill your coupe glass by filling it with ice and water, then set aside.
- Cut the lime in half and juice both pieces through a fine strainer into your shaker.
- Pick 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves and gently bruise them in the shaker with a muddler or back of a spoon.
- Pour in 2 ounces gin and 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice into the shaker with the mint.
- Add 0.5 ounces simple syrup and stir gently to combine.
- Fill the shaker three-quarters full with approximately 1 cup of cubed ice.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds using an up-and-down motion.
- Discard the ice and water from your chilled glass and strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer.
- Garnish with a fresh mint sprig on top or across the rim before serving.
Notes
Use bar ice and shake vigorously for best texture; gentle mint muddling prevents bitterness.
