Ingredients

Main
  • 2 tablespoons blue curaçao syrup
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut rum syrup or coconut extract
  • 1 tablespoon sweet and sour mix or lemon-lime juice
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 cup ice per drink

Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Drinking glasses
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Ice maker or ice from freezer
  • Pitcher for mixing larger batches

Method

  1. Grab two tall drinking glasses that hold at least 16 ounces each.
  2. Add about one cup of ice to each glass, packing it in fairly full.
  3. Measure out two tablespoons of blue curaçao syrup and pour it evenly between the two glasses.
  4. Pour 1/4 cup of pineapple juice into the glasses, dividing it equally.
  5. Add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut rum syrup or coconut extract to each glass.
  6. Squeeze or measure one tablespoon of sweet and sour mix into the combined glasses.
  7. Top off each glass with cold water, using about 3/4 cup per drink to reach the rim.
  8. Give the drink a good stir for about 30 seconds to ensure the blue syrup, juice, and water are completely combined.
  9. Take a sip and decide if you want it sweeter, more tropical, or more tart. Add more juice, water, or syrup to adjust to your preference.
  10. Serve immediately for the best flavor.

Notes

Make a big batch of the syrup base by combining the blue curaçao syrup, pineapple juice, coconut syrup, and sweet and sour mix in a pitcher, then refrigerate it for up to two weeks. Pour a few ounces into a glass with ice and top with water whenever you want an instant Sonic Ocean Water. Use cold ingredients straight from the fridge to minimize melting ice and flavor dilution.
