Ingredients

Main
  • 6 to 8 fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 2 ounces 60 ml vodka
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml raspberry liqueur (such as Chambord)
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice for shaking plus ice for chilling the glass
  • 2 to 3 fresh raspberries for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glass or coupe glass
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Jigger for measuring
  • Muddler or back of a spoon
  • Bar spoon (optional)
  • Fine-mesh strainer (optional)

Method

  1. Chill the martini or coupe glass by filling it with ice while you prepare the cocktail.
  2. Place 6 to 8 fresh or frozen raspberries into the cocktail shaker.
  3. Gently muddle the raspberries with a muddler or back of a spoon for 10 seconds to release their juice without crushing the seeds.
  4. Add 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka and 0.5 ounce (15 ml) raspberry liqueur into the shaker.
  5. Pour in 0.5 ounce (15 ml) fresh lemon juice and 0.5 ounce (15 ml) simple syrup.
  6. Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker and secure the lid.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  8. Discard the ice from the chilled glass and strain the mixture into the glass, using a fine mesh strainer for extra smoothness if desired.
  9. Garnish with 2 to 3 fresh raspberries dropped into the drink or placed on the rim, then serve immediately.

Notes

For a smoother texture, strain through a fine mesh sieve and serve immediately to prevent dilution.
