Ingredients

Main
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice fresh or 100% juice blend
  • 4 ounces champagne or sparkling wine chilled
  • 0.5 ounce orange liqueur Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 2 to 3 fresh cranberries for garnish optional
  • Pinch of superfine sugar for rimming optional

Equipment

  • Champagne flute or coupe glass
  • Jigger for measuring
  • Bar spoon for stirring
  • Small shallow dish for sugar rimming (optional)

Method

  1. Place the champagne flute in the freezer for at least 5 minutes to chill.
  2. Lightly dampen the rim of the glass and dip it into superfine sugar for a sweet, sparkling edge.
  3. Pour 1 ounce of cranberry juice into the chilled glass.
  4. Measure and pour 0.5 ounce of orange liqueur into the glass.
  5. Slowly pour 4 ounces of chilled champagne into the glass, filling nearly to the rim.
  6. Gently stir with a bar spoon for 2 to 3 rotations to blend flavors while preserving carbonation.
  7. Drop 2 to 3 fresh cranberries into the drink as garnish.
  8. Serve immediately while the champagne is still fizzy and cold.

Notes

Make just before serving to maintain the champagne's carbonation and freshness.
