- Wash and chop the fresh fruit into small pieces.
- In a large glass jar, add the chopped fruit, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the white rum over the mixture in the jar, ensuring all ingredients are submerged.
- Seal the jar tightly and gently shake it to dissolve the sugar and distribute the spices.
- Let the jar sit in a cool, dark place for at least 7 days for proper infusion.
- After infusion, use a strainer to separate the liquid from the solids.
- Using a funnel, transfer the strained pitorro into clean bottles and seal them tightly.
- Chill the pitorro in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, allow the pitorro to infuse for longer than 7 days.
