Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 1/2 cups fruit juice watermelon, mango, tamarind, or raspberry
  • 1/2 cup tequila or mezcal
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons tajin seasoning and chamoy sauce for rimming
  • 1 pinch salt for the rim

Equipment

  • Shot glasses or small freezer-safe cups
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden popsicle sticks or small spoons
  • Freezer
  • Small shallow dish or plate for rimming
  • Whisk or stirring spoon

Method
 

  1. Whisk together fruit juice, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup until fully blended.
  2. Pour the mixture into shot glasses or small freezer-safe cups, filling three-quarters full.
  3. Insert a wooden popsicle stick or small spoon into the center of each glass.
  4. Freeze for 1.5 to 2 hours until slushy but not fully solid.
  5. Remove from freezer and stir each to break up ice crystals for smooth texture.
  6. Return glasses to freezer and freeze for another 1.5 to 2 hours until completely solid.
  7. Mix tajin seasoning and chamoy sauce in a shallow dish to create a rim paste.
  8. Run a lime wedge around each frozen glass rim, then dip into the tajin-chamoy mixture.
  9. Serve immediately and consume within minutes to enjoy the perfect slushy texture.

Notes

Best served immediately after removal from the freezer to maintain the slushy texture; consume within minutes and store any extras in the freezer for up to 24 hours.
