  • 1/2 cup milk whole or 2% works best
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • 1 cup ice crushed or cubed
  • 1/4 cup water optional for thinning

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large glass or pitcher for serving
  • Tall drinking glasses
  • Straws (optional)

Method

  1. Measure out all ingredients and have them ready before starting.
  2. Pour 1 1/2 cups orange juice and 1/2 cup milk into the blender.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to the blender.
  4. Add 1 cup of ice, filling the blender almost to the top.
  5. Blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and frothy.
  6. If the drink is too thick, add up to 1/4 cup water and blend briefly to reach desired consistency.
  7. Pour a small amount into a glass to taste and adjust sugar or vanilla if needed.
  8. Pour the Orange Julius into chilled glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, serve immediately and chill glasses before pouring to keep the drink ice-cold longer.
