Method
- Place your coupe glass or cocktail glass in the freezer for at least two minutes to chill.
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with large ice cubes or chunks.
- Pour 1.5 ounces of gin into the shaker using a jigger.
- Add 0.75 ounces of elderflower liqueur to the shaker.
- Add 0.5 ounces of fresh lemon juice to the shaker.
- Add 0.25 ounces of simple syrup and two to three dashes of orange bitters into the shaker.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds.
- Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer.
- Garnish with a lemon twist or an edible flower and serve immediately.
Notes
Use bottled lemon juice only if fresh lemons are completely unavailable, and always chill your glass before pouring to keep your drink cold without excessive dilution.
