Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces light rum white or silver
  • 1.5 ounces dark rum aged or spiced
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • 1 slice lime wheel for garnish
  • 1 slice lemon wheel for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Jigger for measuring
  • Lime squeezer or manual juicer
  • Lemon squeezer or manual juicer
  • Strainer (bar or fine mesh)
  • Two rocks glasses or large cocktail glasses
  • Cutting board and knife

Method
 

  1. Fill two rocks glasses or large cocktail glasses with fresh ice cubes.
  2. Cut and squeeze fresh limes and lemons to yield 1 ounce of lime juice and 0.5 ounce of lemon juice.
  3. Measure 1.5 ounces of light rum into a jigger and pour into the cocktail shaker.
  4. Measure 1.5 ounces of dark rum and add it to the shaker.
  5. Add 1 ounce of fresh lime juice and 0.5 ounce of fresh lemon juice to the shaker.
  6. Add 0.5 ounce of simple syrup and about 1 cup of ice cubes to the shaker.
  7. Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until frosty.
  8. Strain the mixture into the two prepared ice-filled glasses using a strainer.
  9. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel and a lemon wheel, then serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh-squeezed citrus juices and filtered or distilled ice for best flavor and proper dilution.
