Method
- Measure 2 teaspoons of ceremonial-grade matcha powder into a small bowl and sift through a fine mesh strainer to remove lumps.
- Boil water, then let it sit for 30 seconds to cool to 160-170°F before using.
- Pour 1/4 cup of hot water into the sifted matcha and whisk in a gentle back-and-forth motion for about 30 seconds until smooth and frothy.
- Pour 3/4 cup of cold milk into a tall glass.
- Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the cold milk from about 2 inches above the glass to create a layered effect.
- Drizzle 2 tablespoons of condensed milk into the glass using a spoon, allowing it to sink to the bottom.
- Stir the drink thoroughly with a long spoon, pulling from the bottom to combine the condensed milk evenly.
- Top the drink with 2-3 tablespoons of whipped cream and serve immediately for the best layered appearance.
Notes
Serve immediately to enjoy the temperature contrast and layered appearance.
