Ingredients

Main
  • 2 ounces gin London Dry preferred
  • 4 to 6 ounces ginger beer quality brand, cold
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 fresh lime wheel for garnish
  • Ice cubed or crushed, enough to fill the mug

Equipment

  • Copper mug or cocktail glass
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Bar spoon or long cocktail spoon
  • Citrus juicer or citrus reamer
  • Ice bucket or freezer
  • Cutting board and knife

Method

  1. Place the copper mug in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to chill.
  2. Remove the chilled mug and fill it completely with cubed or crushed ice.
  3. Measure 2 ounces of gin using a jigger and pour it over the ice.
  4. Squeeze half a lime to yield 1/2 ounce of fresh juice and pour it into the mug.
  5. Top the drink with 4 to 6 ounces of cold ginger beer, depending on preferred strength.
  6. Gently stir the mixture for about 10 seconds using a bar spoon to combine and chill.
  7. Slice a fresh lime into a thin wheel for garnish.
  8. Place the lime wheel on the rim of the mug and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately after stirring to maintain optimal temperature and carbonation. For extra chill, freeze the copper mug at least 2 hours before serving.
