Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water for syrup
  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 4 cups cold water for lemonade
  • Ice for serving
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Fresh lavender sprigs for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Juicer
  • Pitcher
  • Stirring spoon
  • Strainer
  • Glasses for serving

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add the dried lavender to the sugar-water mixture. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to develop.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a clean jar to remove the lavender buds.
  4. While the syrup cools, juice the lemons until you have 1 cup of fresh juice.
  5. In a pitcher, combine the lavender syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to mix all the flavors.
  6. Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness by adding more syrup if desired.
  7. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to chill.
  8. Fill glasses with ice, pour in the lavender lemonade, and garnish with lemon slices and fresh lavender sprigs if using.

Notes

For a stronger lavender flavor, let the syrup steep longer before straining.
