Ingredients

Main
  • 6 to 8 Jolly Rancher candies
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 4 ounces Sprite or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice optional

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Shot glasses or cocktail glasses
  • Strainer
  • Jigger

Method

  1. Select 6 to 8 Jolly Rancher candies of your preferred color or mix for a rainbow effect.
  2. Measure 1/4 cup water and pour into a small saucepan.
  3. Heat the water over medium heat until small wisps of steam appear, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the Jolly Rancher candies to the hot water.
  5. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula for 1 to 2 minutes until the candies fully dissolve into a smooth syrup.
  6. Let the syrup cool for 1 minute at room temperature to avoid melting the ice.
  7. Fill two cocktail glasses with ice cubes (about 1 cup total).
  8. Divide the syrup equally by pouring about 1 tablespoon into each glass.
  9. Add 1 ounce vodka and 2 ounces Sprite or lemon-lime soda into each glass over the ice.
  10. Gently stir each drink for about 5 seconds to combine syrup, spirit, and soda. Taste and adjust sweetness or dilution as desired.

Notes

Store any leftover candy syrup in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks and warm slightly before using.
