Ingredients

Main
  • 1 to 2 ounces espresso 1-2 shots
  • 8 to 10 ounces whole milk
  • 0.5 to 1 ounce raw honey 1-2 tablespoons
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • Pinch of sea salt optional

Equipment

  • Espresso machine or Moka pot
  • Milk frother or small saucepan
  • Tall mug or latte glass
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Thermometer (optional)
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Pull 1 to 2 shots of espresso into a mug using an espresso machine or Moka pot.
  2. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of raw honey and 2 tablespoons of hot water to the hot espresso and stir for 30 seconds until dissolved.
  3. Pour 8 to 10 ounces of cold whole milk into a milk pitcher and heat to 150°F (65°C), about 1 minute, without boiling.
  4. Froth the heated milk with a steam wand or milk frother for 30 to 45 seconds to create microfoam.
  5. Pour the steamed milk into the mug over the espresso-honey mixture, holding back the foam with a spoon, then increase the pour to incorporate foam.
  6. Spoon the remaining microfoam on top of the latte.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.

Notes

Dissolve honey in hot water before adding milk to avoid a gritty texture and enjoy the latte fresh for the best microfoam.
