Main
  • 2 ounces premium vodka chilled works best
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice from about half a lemon
  • 0.5 ounce honey liquid or slightly warmed
  • 4 ounces chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes preferably larger, slower-melting cubes
  • Lemon wheel or twist for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mixing glass
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Strainer
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Ice cube tray or ice scoop
  • Citrus juicer or hand reamer
  • Cutting board and sharp knife

Method
 

  1. Fill a highball or rocks glass with large ice cubes, leaving room at the top.
  2. Cut a fresh lemon in half and squeeze 1 ounce of lemon juice, straining out seeds and pulp.
  3. Pour 0.5 ounce of honey into a shaker and warm slightly if thick to ensure it flows smoothly.
  4. Add the strained lemon juice to the honey in the shaker and stir to dissolve the honey.
  5. Measure and add 2 ounces of chilled vodka to the shaker.
  6. Fill the shaker halfway with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  7. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass, leaving shaker ice behind.
  8. Top with 4 ounces of cold club soda and stir gently, then garnish with a lemon wheel or twist.

Notes

Serve immediately after pouring to enjoy the optimal chill and carbonation.
