Ingredients

Main
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups carbonated water
  • 1 1/2 cups ice cubes
  • Lemon or lime slices for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Citrus juicer or hand-squeezed method
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large mixing pitcher or serving jug
  • Long stirring spoon
  • Glasses for serving
  • Ice maker or ice tray
  • Bottle opener (if using bottled carbonated water)

Method

  1. Cut and juice fresh lemons and limes using a citrus juicer or by hand, straining out any pulp and seeds.
  2. Prepare simple syrup by combining 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup hot water, stirring until dissolved, then cool to room temperature.
  3. Pour the lemon juice and lime juice into a large mixing pitcher.
  4. Add 1/3 cup simple syrup to the pitcher and stir to combine.
  5. Slowly pour in 2 cups of chilled carbonated water, pouring gently down the side of the pitcher to preserve fizz.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness with additional simple syrup or dilute with more carbonated water if needed.
  7. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes.
  8. Pour the prepared Sprite into glasses over ice and garnish with lemon or lime slices; serve immediately.

Notes

Chill your pitcher and glasses before mixing for best carbonation retention and serve immediately while the drink is cold.
