Homemade Orangeade

Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 pounds fresh oranges about 6 medium oranges, washed and halved
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup sugar or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt optional
  • Ice as needed for serving optional

Equipment

  • Citrus juicer or manual juicer

Method
 

  1. Wash all oranges under cold running water and pat dry.
  2. Cut each orange in half on a cutting board using a sharp knife.
  3. Juice the oranges using a citrus juicer until you have about 2 cups of juice.
  4. Strain the orange juice through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove pulp and seeds (optional).
  5. Add 4 cups cold water to the pitcher with the juice.
  6. Stir in 1/4 cup sugar until completely dissolved, about 1 minute.
  7. Add 1/8 teaspoon sea salt if using and stir to combine.
  8. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.
  9. Serve over ice or chill in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and stir before serving.
