High Fiber Smoothie

Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 medium bananas frozen and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh spinach lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt plain
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup
  • 3 to 4 ice cubes

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Two smoothie glasses or bowls
  • Spoon for stirring

Method
 

  1. Slice and freeze two medium bananas at least two hours in advance.
  2. Measure and gather all ingredients before assembling the smoothie.
  3. Pour 1 cup unsweetened almond milk into the blender as the liquid base.
  4. Add frozen banana slices and 1/2 cup blueberries on top of the almond milk.
  5. Layer in 1 cup fresh spinach and 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt.
  6. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed, 2 tablespoons almond butter, and 1 tablespoon chia seeds into the blender.
  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup.
  8. Blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth.
  9. Add 3 to 4 ice cubes and blend for an additional 15 to 20 seconds until ice is fully crushed.
  10. Pour into two glasses and serve immediately for best texture and temperature.

Notes

Freeze your banana slices in a zip-top bag and keep them ready to go for quick smoothie prep.
