Method
- Cut your frozen banana into chunks about 1 inch thick. Smaller pieces blend faster and more evenly.
- If using whole dates, cut them open lengthwise and remove the pit with your finger or a small knife.
- Pour almond milk into the blender first before adding solids. This helps the liquid circulate around the other ingredients.
- Add almond butter and pitted dates next. Placing these in the liquid makes them easier for the blender to process.
- Add sliced frozen banana chunks on top of the wet ingredients.
- Sprinkle the vanilla extract and sea salt over the top.
- Blend everything on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until creamy and smooth.
- If too thick, add almond milk one tablespoon at a time. If too thin, add ice cubes or more frozen banana.
- Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
Freeze banana slices in a freezer bag the night before for easy morning prep. Don't skip the sea salt as it brightens all the flavors. If dates are very hard, soak them in warm water for 5 minutes before blending. Store in fridge for up to 2 hours or freeze for up to 3 months.
