Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces silver or blanco tequila
  • 1.5 ounces fresh guava juice or high-quality bottled
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces triple sec or Cointreau
  • 0.5 ounces agave nectar or simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse sea salt for rimming
  • Lime wedge for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Margarita glass or rocks glass
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Small shallow dish for salt rim

Method
 

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim in coarse sea salt to coat evenly.
  2. Measure 2 ounces of silver tequila and 0.5 ounces of triple sec into the cocktail shaker.
  3. Add 1.5 ounces of guava juice and 0.75 ounces of fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  4. Pour 0.5 ounces of agave nectar or simple syrup into the shaker.
  5. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice cubes.
  6. Secure the lid on the shaker and ensure it is tight.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice using a strainer to catch ice chips.
  9. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and serve immediately.

Notes

For parties, batch the guava juice, lime juice, triple sec, and agave in advance, then let guests add tequila and ice and shake individually.
