A refreshing Bahamian rum cocktail combining light rum, coconut rum, and tropical juices for a taste of the Caribbean.

Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1.5 ounces light rum
  • 0.5 ounce coconut rum
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 0.5 ounce lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple wedge or orange slice for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with tight-fitting lid
  • Jigger for measuring spirits and juice
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Cocktail strainer (optional)
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Citrus juicer or hand reamer
  • Cutting board and knife

Method
 

  1. Chill a highball or rocks glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit for 1 minute.
  2. Discard the ice from the glass and set the glass aside.
  3. Pour 1.5 ounces light rum into the cocktail shaker using a jigger.
  4. Add 0.5 ounce coconut rum to the shaker.
  5. Pour in 3 ounces pineapple juice and 2 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice.
  6. Add 0.5 ounce fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  7. Fill the shaker about three quarters full with ice cubes.
  8. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until well chilled.
  9. Strain the mixture into the chilled glass filled with fresh ice cubes.
  10. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or orange slice on the rim and serve immediately.

Notes

Always use freshly squeezed juices whenever possible to ensure maximum brightness and flavor.
