Method
- Chill your glass: place your rocks glass or coupe in the freezer for at least one minute before mixing.
- Measure your bourbon: pour exactly 2 ounces of bourbon into a jigger and add it to the cocktail shaker.
- Add the honey liqueur: measure 0.5 ounces of honey liqueur and pour it into the shaker with the bourbon.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice: cut your lemon in half and juice one half to yield 0.75 ounces of fresh lemon juice into the shaker.
- Add ice to the shaker: fill the cocktail shaker about three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously: close the shaker and shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside feels frosty and cold.
- Strain into your chilled glass: use a bar strainer to pour the cocktail into the pre-chilled glass, leaving the ice behind.
- Garnish and serve: twist a lemon peel over the surface to release oils, drop it into the drink, and serve immediately.
