Method
- Bring 8 ounces of water to a boil in a kettle or small saucepan.
- Pour the hot water over a chai tea bag in a mug and steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
- While the tea steeps, warm 6 ounces of milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles form around the edges.
- Remove the tea bag from the mug after 3 to 4 minutes, gently squeezing it against the side with a spoon to release the last drops of flavor.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon, a pinch of ground cloves, a pinch of ground nutmeg, and a small pinch of ground black pepper to the steeped chai.
- Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey into the hot tea until fully dissolved.
- Slowly pour the warmed milk into the spiced chai while stirring gently to combine.
- Taste the latte and adjust sweetness or spice levels by adding more honey or spices if desired.
- Top with whipped cream if desired and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
Serve immediately while hot and stir before drinking to redistribute spices.
