  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Two drinking glasses
  • Microplane or box grater (optional)

Method

  1. Peel 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger and chop into small, pea-sized pieces.
  2. Measure out 1 cup of apple juice or coconut water and 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt; set aside in the blender cup.
  3. Peel and slice the banana into half-inch pieces and add to the blender.
  4. Add the chopped ginger to the blender, then pour in the liquid.
  5. Spoon in 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup and any optional ingredients like turmeric or almond butter.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of ice cubes to the blender.
  7. Blend on low for 3 seconds, then increase to high and blend for 45-60 seconds until smooth and no chunks remain.
  8. Pour a small amount into a glass to taste and adjust sweetness or ginger intensity if needed.
  9. Divide the smoothie between two glasses and serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

Smoothies are best served immediately; leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but texture may separate.
