  • 1 ounce 30 ml Kahlua or coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce 30 ml fresh espresso, cooled to room temperature
  • 1.5 cups crushed or cubed ice
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml heavy cream
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml simple syrup
  • Pinch cocoa powder for garnish
  • 3 –5 coffee beans for garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring jigger or shot glass
  • Cocktail glasses or coupe glasses (chilled)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Ice scoop or spoon
  • Bar spoon (optional)

Method

  1. Chill glasses: Place cocktail glasses in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to chill.
  2. Cool espresso: Brew a shot of espresso and let it cool to room temperature for about 2 minutes.
  3. Measure ingredients: Pour 2 ounces vodka and 1 ounce Kahlua into a measuring jigger.
  4. Add ice: Add 1.5 cups of crushed or cubed ice into the blender.
  5. Combine ingredients: Add cooled espresso, vodka, Kahlua, heavy cream, and simple syrup to the blender.
  6. Blend: Pulse 2–3 times, then blend on high for 15–20 seconds until smooth and slushy.
  7. Adjust consistency: If too thick, add a splash of vodka or cream; if too thin, add more ice and blend again.
  8. Serve: Pour evenly into the chilled glasses.
  9. Garnish: Dust with cocoa powder and top each with 3–5 coffee beans before serving.

Notes

Serve immediately while the texture is still frozen and creamy, and enjoy as a dessert-style cocktail.
