Method
- Brew your coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, or espresso) and let it cool to room temperature or refrigerate until chilled.
- Pour 1 cup of chilled coffee into your blender or shaker.
- Add 1/2 cup of milk and 1.5 tablespoons of sweetener to the blender.
- Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if using, then add 1.25 cups of ice cubes.
- If using a blender, blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and frothy. If using a cocktail shaker, seal it tightly and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the outside becomes frosty.
- Check the consistency. The texture should be smooth and creamy with a slight froth on top. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again.
- Pour the frozen coffee immediately into a tall glass, getting all the frothy mixture out of the blender.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Add optional toppings like whipped cream or cocoa powder if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
Notes
Always chill your brewed coffee before blending to prevent excessive ice melting and dilution. Use simple syrup instead of granulated sugar for smoother texture. For stronger coffee flavor, use cold brew concentrate (3/4 cup instead of 1 cup). Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 hours, or freeze in ice cube trays for up to one month.
