Method
- Wash and chop your chosen fruit into chunks, removing any seeds, stems, or pits, then blend with just enough water to create a smooth puree and strain through a fine mesh sieve.
- Fill your coupe glass or rocks glass with ice and let it sit for a minute while you prepare the drink.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into coarse salt spread on a small plate.
- Pour 2 ounces of silver tequila and 0.5 ounce of triple sec into your cocktail shaker.
- Add 1 ounce of fresh lime juice and 0.5 ounce of agave nectar to the shaker.
- Pour 1 ounce of your strained fruit puree into the shaker.
- Add ice to the shaker until it is about three-quarters full, then seal the top and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.
- Remove the ice from your prepared glass and strain the margarita into it using a bar strainer, then garnish with a fresh lime wheel or fruit slice and serve immediately.
Notes
Always strain your fruit puree through a fine mesh sieve before adding it to the shaker to prevent pulp from affecting the texture of the final drink.
