Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2.5 ounces 75 ml London dry gin
  • 0.5 ounce 15 ml dry vermouth
  • 1 cup large ice cubes
  • 1 lemon twist or olive for garnish
  • Pinch of sea salt or cocktail salt optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail mixing glass or mixing pitcher
  • Bar spoon or long stirring spoon
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Martini glass or coupe glass
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Ice cubes
  • Citrus peeler or zester

Method
 

  1. Chill your martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Fill a mixing glass with 1 cup of large ice cubes.
  3. Measure and pour 2.5 ounces (75 ml) gin into the mixing glass.
  4. Add 0.5 ounce (15 ml) dry vermouth to the mixing glass.
  5. Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for 30 seconds until well chilled.
  6. Use a citrus peeler to cut a 2-inch lemon twist and express its oils over the drink.
  7. Place a Hawthorne strainer on the mixing glass and pour the cocktail into the chilled martini glass.
  8. Garnish with the lemon twist or an olive and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately for best flavor and temperature.
