Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces gin London Dry style works best
  • 4 to 5 slices fresh cucumber about 2 inches of a medium cucumber
  • 0.5 ounces fresh lemon juice squeeze it fresh, never bottled
  • 0.5 ounces fresh lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.75 ounces simple syrup
  • 2 to 3 ounces club soda or seltzer
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • 1 cucumber slice for garnish
  • 2 to 3 fresh mint leaves optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or small measuring glass
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Vegetable peeler or microplane
  • Knife for cutting cucumber
  • Highball glass or tall glass
  • Strainer (fine mesh or built-in shaker strainer)
  • Muddler or the back of a wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Slice the cucumber into 4 to 5 coins about a quarter-inch thick.
  2. Add ice to the cocktail shaker or mason jar, filling it about two-thirds full.
  3. Add the cucumber slices to the shaker and muddle gently for 3 to 4 seconds to release juice.
  4. Pour in 2 ounces gin, 0.5 ounces fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 ounces fresh lime juice.
  5. Add 0.75 ounces simple syrup to the shaker.
  6. Cover the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the outside is frosty.
  7. Fill a highball glass with fresh ice and strain the mixture into the glass using a fine mesh strainer.
  8. Top the drink with 2 to 3 ounces of club soda and stir briefly to combine.
  9. Garnish with a cucumber slice on the rim and mint leaves if using, then serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately while cold and carbonated. Use freshly squeezed citrus juice for the best flavor.
