Ingredients

Main
  • 1 Corona Extra or similar light lager beer chilled (12 ounces)
  • 2 ounces frozen margarita mix
  • 0.5 ounce triple sec or Cointreau
  • Kosher salt for the rim
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish and rim preparation

Equipment

  • 12 to 16 ounce beer glass or rocks glass
  • shot glass or jigger
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon
  • small shallow dish
  • Bottle opener

Method

  1. Pour kosher salt into a small shallow dish.
  2. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a beer glass to moisten, then press the rim into the salt to coat.
  3. Fill the glass halfway with ice and a splash of cold water; let sit 30 seconds, then discard the water and ice.
  4. Using a bottle opener, open the chilled Corona Extra and set the bottle aside.
  5. Measure and pour 2 ounces of frozen margarita mix into the prepared glass using a jigger.
  6. Add 0.5 ounce of triple sec to the margarita mix and stir for about 5 seconds.
  7. Tilt the glass at a 45-degree angle and slowly pour the Corona down the inside edge until nearly full to minimize foam.
  8. Stir gently with a spoon for 3 to 4 slow rotations to blend flavors without creating excess foam.
  9. Squeeze the reserved lime wedge over the drink, drop it into the glass, and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately to enjoy full carbonation. For extra chill, freeze glasses and pre-chill margarita mix.
