Ingredients
  

Main
  • 4 to 6 teaspoons loose leaf tea or 4 to 6 tea bags
  • 1 quart cold filtered water
  • Ice for serving
  • Optional: honey lemon, or milk to taste

  • 1 quart glass pitcher or jar
  • Fine mesh strainer or infuser basket
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Measuring spoons
  • Paper filters or cheesecloth (optional)
  • Refrigerator

Method
 

  1. Select 4 to 6 teaspoons of your preferred loose leaf tea or 4 tea bags.
  2. Pour 1 quart of cold filtered water into a 1-quart glass pitcher or jar.
  3. Add the measured tea directly or place it in an infuser basket in the water.
  4. Stir gently for 20 seconds to ensure all tea leaves are submerged.
  5. Cover the pitcher loosely and refrigerate.
  6. Steep the tea in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours.
  7. Strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher.
  8. Serve over ice with optional honey, lemon, or milk to taste.
  9. Store any leftover tea covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
