  • 1 sugar cube or 1/2 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters
  • 1 orange twist for garnish
  • 1 cherry for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Chill your old fashioned glass.
  2. In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube with bitters until dissolved.
  3. Add cognac and stir gently.
  4. Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 20 seconds.
  5. Strain the mixture into the prepared old fashioned glass with fresh ice.
  6. Express the oils from the orange twist over the drink and garnish.
  7. Optionally, add a cherry as garnish and serve.
