Ingredients

Main
  • 1.5 to 2 ounces espresso one to two shots, freshly pulled
  • 2 ounces whole milk or cream steamed or warmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey or simple syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt optional

Equipment

  • Espresso machine or Moka pot
  • Small cup or demitasse glass (4 to 6 ounces)
  • Milk frother or small whisk
  • Teaspoon
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Pull 1.5 to 2 ounces of fresh espresso directly into your cup using medium-dark roasted beans.
  2. While the espresso is hot, add 1/2 teaspoon of honey or simple syrup and stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Steam or heat 2 ounces of whole milk or cream to 150–160°F (65–71°C) using a steam wand for 30–45 seconds or warm gently in a small saucepan until steaming but not boiling.
  4. Slowly pour the steamed milk into the espresso from about 2 inches above the cup, holding back foam with a spoon, to create a smooth blend.
  5. Add a very small pinch of sea salt on top to enhance sweetness and mask any bitterness.
  6. Gently stir with a teaspoon to ensure even flavor and fully incorporate any salt crystals.
  7. Check the temperature with a small sip; it should be around 140–150°F. If too hot, wait 20–30 seconds before drinking.
  8. Enjoy your Coffee Nudge immediately within 2–3 minutes for optimal flavor and texture.

Notes

Serve immediately for optimal flavor and temperature; store espresso and milk separately if making ahead.
