  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup optional, adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes or cracked ice
  • Citrus wedge or twist for garnish

Equipment

  • Tall glass or highball glass (10-12 oz capacity)
  • Bar spoon or long cocktail spoon
  • Jigger for measuring spirits and juices
  • Ice (cubed or cracked)
  • Cocktail strainer (optional, for chilled ingredients)
  • Citrus juicer or press
  • Knife for cutting garnish

Method

  1. Chill your glass by filling it with ice and a splash of cold water for about 30 seconds, then discard the water.
  2. Measure 2 ounces of your chosen premium spirit with a jigger into your ice-filled glass.
  3. Squeeze 0.5 ounces of fresh lemon or lime juice and add to the glass.
  4. If using, add 0.5 ounces of simple syrup to the glass.
  5. Fill the glass with fresh ice cubes or cracked ice, leaving room for the mixer.
  6. Slowly pour 4 ounces of your chosen carbonated mixer over the ice.
  7. Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 10 seconds to combine and chill.
  8. Garnish with a citrus wedge or twist and serve immediately.

Notes

Stir the spirit, juice, and syrup together for 10 seconds before adding the mixer to preserve carbonation and prevent excess dilution.
