Ingredients
  

Main
  • 4 ounces orange juice or apple juice
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • 2 ounces ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • Ice cubes as needed to fill glass
  • 1 fresh orange slice for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
  • Optional: squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Equipment

  • Tall glass
  • Measuring cup
  • cocktail spoon or regular spoon
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • colorful straw

Method
 

  1. Fill a tall glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes.
  2. Pour 4 ounces of orange juice or apple juice over the ice.
  3. Slowly add 1 ounce of cranberry juice to create a layered color effect.
  4. Gently pour 2 ounces of chilled ginger ale or lemon-lime soda down the side of the glass.
  5. Stir the drink gently 5 to 6 times to combine flavors while retaining fizz.
  6. Slice a fresh orange into a thin round and cut from the center to the edge.
  7. Slide the orange slice onto the rim of the glass and top with a maraschino cherry.
  8. Insert a colorful straw and serve immediately.

Notes

Chill the glass and juices beforehand for best results and serve immediately to enjoy maximum fizz and chill.
