Method
- Pull a double shot of espresso and let it cool to room temperature (about 1 minute).
- Chill your martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 2 minutes.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with about 1 cup of fresh ice cubes.
- Measure and pour 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka into the shaker.
- Add 1 ounce (30 ml) of cooled espresso to the shaker.
- Pour in 0.5 ounces (15 ml) chocolate liqueur and 0.5 ounces (15 ml) simple syrup.
- Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12 to 15 seconds.
- Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a fine mesh strainer.
- Slowly float 0.25 ounces (8 ml) heavy cream on top by pouring over the back of a spoon.
- Dust a pinch of cocoa powder over the cream float for garnish.
Notes
Serve immediately after making to maintain the cream float and chilled texture.
