Method
- Brew 6 ounces of strong coffee using your preferred method.
- Pour 4 ounces of milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until steaming and small bubbles form around the edges, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Measure 2 ounces of chai concentrate (or warm brewed chai tea) into a mug.
- Add 1 tablespoon of honey or agave nectar to the chai concentrate and stir to combine.
- Sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger, a tiny pinch of ground cardamom, a tiny pinch of ground cloves, and a small pinch of black pepper, then whisk until smooth.
- Slowly pour the hot brewed coffee into the spiced chai mixture while stirring gently to blend flavors.
- Froth the heated milk using a whisk or milk frother until light and airy with small bubbles.
- Pour the frothed milk into the coffee and chai mixture, holding back foam with a spoon if desired, then top with foam.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice levels, adding extra milk or chai concentrate if needed.
Notes
Make a batch of chai concentrate ahead of time and store it in the fridge so you can throw together a chai coffee in under 5 minutes on busy mornings.
