Method
- Crush 3 to 4 cardamom pods lightly in a mortar and pestle until fragrant.
- Pour 1 cup of fresh cold water into a small saucepan and add the crushed cardamom pods and cinnamon stick if using.
- Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer the cardamom for 2 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Add the tea bag or loose leaf tea and steep for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on desired strength.
- Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a mug, catching the cardamom pods and tea leaves.
- Stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk and honey or sweetener to taste.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your warm cardamom tea.
Notes
For best flavor, crush cardamom pods just before brewing and warm your mug beforehand.
