Method
- Place 2 candy canes in a plastic bag or between parchment paper and crush them finely with a mallet or the bottom of a heavy glass.
- Pour crushed candy canes into a shallow bowl. Damp the rim of a chilled coupe glass with a bit of cream or simple syrup and roll it in the crushed candy canes to coat.
- Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Pour 2 ounces of vodka into the shaker.
- Add 1 ounce white creme de cacao, 1 ounce peppermint schnapps, and 1 ounce heavy cream or half-and-half to the shaker.
- Add 1/2 ounce simple syrup to the shaker.
- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until well chilled and the cream is emulsified.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared coupe glass using a cocktail strainer to remove ice shards.
- Garnish with a whole candy cane on the rim and serve immediately while cold.
Notes
Chill your coupe glass in the freezer for 10 minutes before making the drink; serve immediately to maintain the candy cane rim crunch.
