Method
- Chill a highball or tall cocktail glass in the freezer for at least two minutes.
- Remove the glass from the freezer and fill it completely with ice cubes.
- Measure and slowly pour 0.5 ounces of grenadine syrup into the glass over the ice, letting it settle at the bottom.
- Using the back of a bar spoon, slowly layer 0.5 ounces of blue curacao liqueur over the grenadine.
- Layer 0.5 ounces of Midori melon liqueur on top of the blue curacao using the bar spoon technique.
- In a separate mixing glass, combine 1.5 ounces of dark or spiced rum and 1 ounce of coconut rum.
- Add 2 ounces of pineapple juice to the rum mixture and stir gently to combine.
- Slowly pour the rum and pineapple juice mixture over the back of a bar spoon into the main glass to preserve the layers.
- Garnish with a lime wheel and optional cherry, then serve immediately with a straw.
Notes
The key to visible layers is pouring each ingredient slowly over the back of a bar spoon and keeping your glass very cold before building the drink.
