Ingredients

Main
  • 6 to 8 fresh blueberries
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Lemon wheel or twist for garnish
  • Coarse sugar for rim optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Bar spoon or long teaspoon
  • Cocktail strainer or fine mesh strainer
  • Muddler or handle of wooden spoon
  • Martini glass or coupe glass
  • Citrus juicer or hand squeezer

Method

  1. Place martini glass or coupe glass in the freezer for at least two minutes.
  2. Add ice cubes and fresh blueberries to the shaker.
  3. Muddle blueberries gently against the ice to release juice without pulverizing them.
  4. Measure and add vodka to the shaker.
  5. Add fresh lemon juice to the shaker.
  6. Add simple syrup to the shaker.
  7. Close the shaker and shake vigorously for ten seconds.
  8. Strain the mixture into the chilled glass using a fine mesh strainer.
  9. Garnish with a lemon twist or wheel and serve immediately.

Notes

Chilling the glass and using fresh ingredients keeps the cocktail cold and flavorful. Serve immediately to prevent dilution.
