Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 ounce blueberry liqueur or syrup
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup or 0.75 ounce if using blueberry puree instead of liqueur
  • 6 to 8 fresh blueberries
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist or blueberry skewer for garnish optional
  • Sugar for rimming the glass optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with a tight-fitting lid
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Mixing spoon or cocktail stirrer
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Coupe glass or martini glass
  • Muddler or back of a wooden spoon
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer

Method
 

  1. Fill a coupe or martini glass with ice and set aside to chill.
  2. Cut a fresh lemon in half and juice it to extract 1 ounce of lemon juice.
  3. Place 6 to 8 fresh blueberries in a cocktail shaker and muddle gently to release their juice.
  4. Add 2 ounces vodka, 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 0.75 ounce blueberry liqueur or syrup to the shaker.
  5. Add 0.5 ounce simple syrup or 0.75 ounce if using blueberry puree instead of liqueur.
  6. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until frosty.
  7. Discard the ice from the chilled glass and strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into the glass.
  8. Garnish with a lemon twist or skewered blueberries and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately after straining to maintain optimal chill and clarity.
